‘Our biggest year yet’, announces Palletways as annual records tumble

More than 5.4 million pallets were moved by Palletways UK over the course of the last 12 months – a 5.8% increase on 2015/16 as Europe’s largest and fastest-growing palletised express freight network enjoyed its biggest year since launch in 1994.

Key highlights which tell the story of 2016/17 include:

· Largest daily volume in pallets recorded was 27,017, up from 24,696 in 2015-2016 – up 9.4%;

· The number of delivery consignments in a day, with 22,311 being the single-day record, up from 19,715 year-on-year – up 13%;

· Membership numbers in the UK climbed from 107 to 113 – a record high.

Dave Walmsley, Palletways UK Managing Director, says: “The figures for this year are outstanding and represent our biggest year on record. Our investment in technology, commitment to expansion in the UK and abroad, and members’ dedication to customer service excellence has yielded great results.

“Recent projects have strengthened our position as the pallet network of choice in the UK. For example, our ETA technology was a pallet industry first. The two-hour time notification delivery window provides delivery time certainty for customers and consumers. The expansion of additional regional hubs in the UK South West, Spain and Germany give members and customers unrivalled access to markets at home and abroad.

“I want to thank our UK members who’ve worked incredibly hard to deliver a 5.8% increase in the overall number of pallets moved last year.”

In 2017/18, Palletways expects further pallet volume growth generated by a combination of new members, the development of ordering via www.palletwaysonline.com and a recent new expansion in Lodz, near Warsaw, in Poland.

Mike Harrison, Palletways Operations Director, says: “The network is strong and resilient enough to take on whatever pallet volumes our customers want to move, even at the busiest times of last year. Over the 2016 festive period we exceeded our expectations to move more than 867,000 pallets after a late surge of orders. At Easter, we moved 27,000 pallets on a single day which was another record.

“The combination of our Digital Information Hub, award-winning archway scanning technology and in-cab printing technology create a highly-tuned machine.”
